About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Compensation and Benefits Assistant to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Compensation and Benefits team, you will be responsible for assisting with the timely processing of all routine employee life cycle events, including the administration of pension plans, insured and self-insured benefits plans, and terms and conditions of employment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of employment legislation, collective agreements, and policies, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for maintaining a high degree of data and business process quality and integrity, and actively participating in the continuous improvement process.

The work location is flexible within the province, and you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and services.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • A graduate degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant certification in employee pensions, benefits, and business enterprise information systems, such as SAP.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the administration of pensions and benefits, and terms and conditions of employment, preferably in a unionized healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizing, prioritizing, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including drafting, editing, and formatting correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and recognize sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Competencies in other languages, such as French, are an asset.
Hours

This is a long-assignment full-time position, with 75 hours biweekly. The location of the position will be dependent on the successful candidate.
