Psychiatrist Job Opportunity at Calian

Calian is seeking a full-time or part-time Psychiatrist to provide clinical services to Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members at Canadian Forces Base Edmonton.

Job Summary

As a Psychiatrist with Calian, you will be part of a team of mental health professionals providing high-quality care to CAF members. You will conduct psychiatric assessments, provide diagnosis and treatment, and participate in the implementation of treatment plans.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and provide diagnosis based on DSM
  • Provide treatment of a variety of mental health conditions, including trauma-related disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, substance-related disorder, and addictive disorders
  • Prepare detailed written psychiatric assessment reports and participate in the implementation of treatment plans
  • Advise on operational readiness, return to work, prognosis, impairment, and restrictions
  • Conduct psychopharmacological treatment, conduct evidence-based therapy such as CBT, respond to emergencies, and crisis
  • Conduct tele-medicine assessments and interventions
  • Provide clinical preceptorship and educational sessions for staff
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary mental health team in case reviews
  • Provide expert advice on mental illness or disorders to primary care providers
  • Create and maintain patient records
Qualifications
  • Registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
  • Specialty certification in psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in Psychiatry (FRCPC)
  • Experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population 18-60 years of age
  • Experience providing pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy with individuals using evidence-based therapy such as CBT
  • Experience in delivering psychiatric services for a wide range of mental illnesses
Additional Requirements
  • To obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
