BIOVECTRA Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRA has an opening for an Environmental Compliance Coordinator. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Windsor, NS.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Oversee environmental compliance with Federal, Provincial and Municipal requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain written environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver training to support environmental programs.
  • Prepare internal and external environmental assessment reports as required.
  • Establish and monitor environmental objectives and targets and related metrics to reduce the intensity of natural resource use and environmental impacts as well to support the prevention, reduction, or elimination of pollution.
  • Prepare and submit National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) report.
  • Prepare required information to support Federal New Substances Notification (NSN) Regulations, including the preparation of NSN's for applicable chemicals polymers and microorganisms.
  • Obtain and maintain provincial permits for solid waste disposal (as required).
  • Obtain and maintain provincial approvals to operate submitting reports as required.
  • Calculate and monitor green-house gas emissions.
  • Develop, implement, maintain Environmental Emergency plans where required (E2 plan)
  • Oversee compliance with provincial spill reporting requirements.
  • Establish a comprehensive environmental compliance inspection / audit framework.
  • Perform / oversee environmental compliance inspections and audits.
  • Develop a comprehensive pit/ trench/ containment area inspection program.
  • Develop a comprehensive storage tank inspection program.
  • Participate in ESG and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support EHS Team with urgent OHS issues (as required)

The successful candidate for this position should have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with focus on environmental studies preferred, or a Diploma in Environmental Studies
  • Knowledge of all levels of environmental regulations.
  • Regulatory Affairs Certification an asset.
  • Occupational Health and Safety experience / education is a strong asset.
  • Excellent computer skills including (Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations to small and medium-sized groups of people.
