The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) seeks an ARS Analyst to join its Legal & Regulatory Affairs team. The successful candidate will work on Alberta reliability standards, providing advice to the AESO, industry participants, and Albertans.

This role involves drafting and developing ARS and associated documentation, engaging with NERC and other bodies, and working with the ARS core team to ensure efficient development. The ARS Analyst will also assist with stakeholder consultation, AUC proceedings, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a university degree and 3+ years of experience in regulatory program development, standards drafting, and utility experience. They should have a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements within the scope of ARS and their impact on the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting and developing ARS and associated documentation
  • Engaging with NERC and other bodies
  • Working with the ARS core team to ensure efficient development
  • Assisting with stakeholder consultation, AUC proceedings, and regulatory compliance

Requirements:

  • University degree with 3+ years of experience in regulatory program development, standards drafting, and utility experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements within the scope of ARS and their impact on the Alberta Interconnected Electrical System
