Position Summary:

Account Managers play a key role in driving sales growth within a specific geographic area or market segment. They are responsible for managing approximately 40-45 accounts generating around $2M in annual revenue. Utilizing Grainger's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Salesforce, is a crucial part of their daily operations, with direct reporting to the District Sales Manager.

Job Responsibilities (You Will):
  • Understand customer objectives and promptly adapt to evolving needs
  • Utilize market insights and available resources to respond swiftly to changes in customer requirements
  • Supervise managed inventory activities to enhance customer relationships, expand contacts, and drive sales growth
  • Leverage Grainger's Value Proposition to offer solutions that boost profitable sales
  • Develop strategies to penetrate key accounts, including conducting regular business reviews to maximize sales opportunities
Education/Experience (You Have):
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct outside sales experience (or equivalent inside sales or marketing background)
  • Proficiency in sales forecasting, opportunity management, and customer planning
  • Regular travel to visit customers within the assigned market, at least once a month, or more frequently as needed
  • Disciplined approach to processes, with the ability to align planning goals with revenue generation strategies
  • Skilled in utilizing sales techniques to address customer objections and determine suitable solutions
  • High School diploma or GED (Post Secondary education desirable)

The role may involve on-site visits to customers, requiring adherence to safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as dictated by health and safety legislation. Specific requirements, such as wearing a hard hat, safety boots, and complying with facial hair guidelines to facilitate PPE use, will be detailed during the recruitment process.

Some customers enforce alcohol and drug screening policies for visiting contractors and vendors. You may be required to comply with these procedures as necessary to access certain sites.
