The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is a leading transit system in North America, recognized for its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Foreperson, Rail Vehicles will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and tracking information, data, records, and equipment inventory
- Inspecting equipment items and rebuilding or improving functionality
- Assisting in the preparation of reports, estimates, and employee-related documents
- Providing training and ensuring employees are aligned with standards
- Liaising with colleagues, support staff, and external stakeholders
- Planning, adjusting, and projecting work, schedules, costs, and systems
- Verifying accuracy, quality, and reliability of processes and equipment
- Reviewing data for discrepancies and reporting findings
- Managing employees and approving requests
- Promoting a respectful work environment and supporting diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
- Participating in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant laws and regulations knowledge
- Quality assurance principles and practices
- Analytical skills
- Audit skills
- Effective communication skills
- Administrative policies and procedures knowledge
- Documentation and record-keeping skills
- Office technology and software proficiency
The successful candidate will have:
- A post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline
- A trade license and/or OACETT Engineering Technologist certification (an asset)
- Thorough knowledge of urban transit vehicle systems and diagnostic, inspection, repair, and maintenance procedures
- Supervisory experience and ability to lead a team
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
- A valid non-probationary Ontario Class 'G' driver's licence
