Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage membership data and processes to ensure accuracy and integrity, and process new and renewed memberships in a timely manner.
  • Lead and implement membership sales campaigns, collaborating with multiple departments and stakeholders to overcome challenges and provide frontline support.
  • Develop and implement membership sales initiatives, including direct in-person sales and upgrading daily admission ticket holders to members.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to create engaging activities and programs for members, enhancing the overall membership experience.
  • Implement efficient processes for selling and processing memberships, as well as redeeming Gift of Membership Certificates.
  • Provide exceptional guest experiences by assisting with lost and found requests, directions, services, show times, and general Aquarium information at the Guest Services Desk.
  • Promote membership sales and train Guest Experience Associates on upsell techniques.
  • Support Admissions and Guest Services with membership-related issues and concerns.
  • Assist the Guest Experience team during busy periods, handling cash and providing refunds according to established protocols.
  • Find creative ways to promote membership throughout the Aquarium.
  • Engage with current members, troubleshooting requests and answering questions about membership.
  • Work closely with the Admissions team to ensure proper training on member programs is in place and delivered daily.
  • Maintain regular communications with the Guest Experience team regarding membership and provide membership training for new associates.
  • Order supplies, such as membership cards and forms, as needed.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries and requests via phone and email.
  • Assist with daily operations at the Guest Services Desk and Admissions as required.
  • Support Supervisors/Managers in handling customer service opportunities and conducting opening and mid-day inspection rounds.
  • Partner with the Manager, Guest Experience to develop new initiatives and improve the Membership program.

Consistently improving the Vancouver Aquarium and its processes by:

  • Familiarizing yourself with Safety and Emergency protocols related to guests and employees.
  • Aiding in Emergency protocol as needed.
  • Maintaining organizational safety standards.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in tourism, hospitality, business, retail, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of related experience, including supervisory and cash handling experience.
  • Understanding of retail business systems (POS) and processes as it applies to a public facility.

Skills:

  • Strong diplomatic and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and energetic with excellent customer service experience.
  • Ability to work with diverse demographics and personalities.
  • Resourceful and skilled in meeting priorities and adapting to unexpected situations.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.

Working Conditions:

  • Shared office environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time at Admissions or in public galleries.
  • Occasional interaction with difficult guests or situations.
  • Flexibility and availability in schedule required during the week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • High degree of interaction with others.

Pay Range: $20-$30/hour
