Our client is seeking a Vice President of Customer Engagement to join their team in Calgary, AB. Our client has been revolutionizing the Power, Controls and Automation industry for decades, spanning sectors like pulp & paper, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, agriculture and utilities. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to take charge of crafting and executing the Business Development, Sales, and Marketing/ Contracts and Estimating teams, ensuring it aligns with our client’s corporate Vision, Mission, and strategic growth plan. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to develop and integrate a comprehensive strategy within the broader corporate framework. You will be responsible for the success of all Business Development, Sales, and Marketing / Contracts and Estimating initiatives. In this role, you will deliver insightful reports that influence corporate decisions on business forecasts and investments. Additionally, you will provide crucial support to various departments in their sales and business development efforts, with a strong focus on business growth and market analysis. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in driving the company’s strategic objectives forward. The Chosen Candidate for this position needs to be a detail-oriented, highly organized team builder, who is energetic, optimistic and extremely hungry while staying deeply attuned to market trends and shifts in the industries you operate in.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure department staff are consistently on task and producing high-quality work.
  • Own and develop the strategic growth plan for the Business Development Sales and Marketing teams.
  • Own and develop the strategic growth plan for the Contracts and Estimating teams.
  • Grow the business across multiple business units and industry sectors.
  • Strategically strengthen the business through increasing the customer base, and diversify training service options.
  • Provide comprehensive oversight, training, and development to department staff to ensure both individual and departmental success.
  • Oversee and approve the preparation and review of contracts, proposals, and quotes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies, while managing high-level customer follow-up and engagement post-submission.
  • Monitor and manage the department budget and overhead, comparing actuals to projections and adjusting resource allocations as necessary.
  • Foster collaboration across projects, set a positive tone, and support staff integration and effective teamwork.
  • Achieve departmental productivity targets
  • Low overhead, efficient work execution, and measurable returns on staff training and development.
  • Establish and communicate a clear path forward for the department, focusing on professional and departmental growth.

Requirements

  • Requires a diploma or bachelor’s degree in sales/marketing or related field.
  • Minimum 20 years of industry experience- Automation, Controls, Power Engineering etc.
  • Minimum of 10 years in business development, sales and managerial roles.
  • Hold logistical and supervisory responsibility for departmental resources, including human, financial, and physical assets.
  • Delivered proven strategic growth plans and organization growth for a business line
  • Have the ability to empower others while participating comfortably as an active member of the COMPANIES Executive Leadership Team.
  • Exceptional communicator that drives open communication
  • Be comfortable to participate in ELT discussions and decisions around strategic direction, planning, resource allocation and business development for the COMPANIES
