Reporting to the Manager of Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Services, the Psychologist II is a member of the FAOS interdisciplinary team & will provide forensic mental health services, inclusive of individual treatment, assessment & court reports, specific to the family violence referral stream, & support general referrals to FAOS. This positions primary focus provides comprehensive assessment & court reports, to mandated clients referred to FAOS, & specific to family violence/intimate partner violence assessment. This position’s secondary focus is to provide individual treatment, group therapy, data collection, and program development and evaluation, as well as may be required to support with general referrals, guidance & support peer clinicians. The Psychologist functions as part of an ambulatory outpatient multi-disciplinary team & is responsible for the assessment & treatment of patients in forensic addiction & mental health programs. The Psychologist will communicate with referral sources, families, physicians, community agencies & other related services and resources in identifying needs for the patient. The Psychologist fulfills the role of educator for the patient & the family, and supports student learning opportunities. The role also includes supporting quality improvement for the program via processes & workflow development, engaging in clinical supervision, service planning, research activities as identified, staff development & supporting with supervision of provisional psychologists. Work will be performed with a high degree of independence within standardized guidelines, in accordance with program & professional standards.

As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Minimum of 3 years working within Adult Addiction and Mental Health. Minimum of 1 year working within an ambulatory and/or community clinic setting. Demonstrated proficiency with individual and family therapy. Demonstrated ability to manage a case list and work within tight timeframes. Demonstrated ability to work on a team. Demonstrated ability to engage in quality improvement and program development. Proficiency with both CBT and DBT therapy modalities. Demonstrated time management abilities. The position requires the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a team. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Demonstrated understanding of all Addiction and Mental Health Calgary Zone programs and Outpatient Service Re-design standards/required framework. Additional training in forensic psychology, family violence/intimate partner violence treatment modalities and assessment tools. Experience completing court reports. Experience with data collection and evaluation.
