Opportunity Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Psychologist II will play a pivotal role in supporting Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Services (FAOS), Rocky Mountain Program (RMP), and Community Geographic Team (CGT). The primary focus will be on delivering clinical supervisory services and direct clinical care, adhering to the professional standards of practice and the ethical code of conduct established by Alberta Health Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance to staff, fostering best practices and standards.
  • Engage in program development, evaluation, and clinic operations.
  • Conduct assessments, treatments, group sessions, and counseling for legally mandated adults.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and community resources to enhance patient discharge processes.
  • Support the manager in addressing day-to-day client and clinical concerns, including resource allocation.
  • Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including early evenings for group therapy and supervision.

Role Description:

As a Clinical Psychologist II, you will deliver advanced psychological services, including assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. You will also provide consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families, ensuring clinical leadership and coordination within your designated program area. This advanced-level position allows you to collaborate with teams to address the complex and multifaceted needs of patients.

You will be responsible for:

  • Consulting and collaborating to ensure evidence-based practices align with psychology standards and regulations.
  • Leading and participating in the development of programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Engaging in staff development, quality improvement, and research activities as needed.
  • Providing supervision to doctoral psychology residents, master's interns, provisional psychologists, and other team members.

Required Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in Psychology from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program is essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates must be active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a forensic mental health environment is highly desirable. Additional preferred qualifications include:

  • Direct clinical care experience with individuals involved in the legal system.
  • Background in working with offenders of sexual and intimate partner violence.
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision within a community mental health context.
  • Familiarity with the Outpatient Service Redesign (OSR) Model.
  • Current CPR certification is an asset.
  • Experience within correctional institutions or with forensic populations.
