REDLAB is a world-class post-production facility providing full post-production services for commercials, TV and features. We are a team of passionate individuals with a love of all things film, TV and commercials.


The Director of Business Affairs will oversee and facilitate all financial and legal affairs of the business. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the company's financial processes and will work closely with the senior management and sales team to ensure proper communication and workflows for best company measures.


This is a part-time permanent role, requiring the successful candidate to work on site at our downtown Toronto office two days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Continual assessment of the financial landscape of REDLAB Inc.
  • Create the annual budget including compensation review, headcount planning, CapEx and operating expenses in collaboration with other heads of departments
  • Working with sales department in preparing forecasts to contribute towards revenue projections assessing feasibility based on current and projected capacity
  • Maintain and manage relationship with bankers, landlord and other external stakeholders
  • Prepare for and attend weekly sales meetings
  • Determine project tax credit eligibility and perform detailed analysis
  • Review and analyze project lab pledge and access agreements
  • Draft and review service agreements and terms for new projects
  • Assess project financing requirements and advise on optimal deal structures
  • Analyze performance reviews and provide informed compensation recommendations to management
  • Perform detailed account analysis for insurance renewals, preparing updated applications and negotiating terms as needed
  • Prepare agenda, minutes and supplementary minutes for board meetings
  • Manage sublease agreements, draft agreements for new sublesses and liaise with realtors as necessary


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial planning, analysis and management of business affairs
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior management and external partners
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills
  • Previous experience in a media, film or post production environment preferred
  • Ability to work on site in our downtown office location
