Position Overview:
Marvonnay Studios is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Business Affairs Specialist Volunteer to join our team. This volunteer role is ideal for individuals passionate about business affairs and looking to add an exciting project to their portfolio / resume. The Business Affairs Specialist will support various administrative and legal tasks to ensure smooth operations and compliance with industry standards. As a new and emerging production company startup, we are looking for someone who can contribute to our growth and help secure funding opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help submit funding applications to various funds such as the Canada Media Fund (CMF), Ontario Creates, and other relevant grant opportunities.
- Assist in reviewing and drafting contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Support the negotiation of deals and agreements with talent, crew, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to manage rights and clearances.
- Maintain and organize legal and business affairs files and records.
- Assist in budget preparation and financial tracking for productions.
- Conduct research on industry standards and best practices.
- Provide administrative support to the Business Affairs team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Strong interest in the film and TV production industry.
- Basic understanding of legal and business affairs in the entertainment sector.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous experience or coursework in business, law, or film production is a plus.
- Experience or interest in grant writing and funding applications is highly desirable.
