VHA Home HealthCare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Volunteer Parenting Support Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing temporary relief and support services to at-risk families caring for children from birth to four years of age.
Key Responsibilities- Visit families on a weekly basis for three hours, providing emotional support and engaging in activities with children to enhance their development.
- Engage in meaningful conversations with parents, providing a listening ear and offering guidance and support as needed.
- Supervise and engage with infants and toddlers, introducing new learning activities and promoting healthy development.
- Partner with parents to plan and prepare healthy meals for their children, promoting healthy eating habits.
- Provide information about community resources and accompany families to local community centers, libraries, and other relevant locations.
- Attend meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
We are seeking a volunteer who can commit to a minimum of 3-6 months, with the possibility of extending their involvement beyond this period. Volunteers are matched with families in their local area, and visits take place in the comfort of the family's home.
Requirements- A person-centered and caring attitude, with a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable families.
- Related child development experience, with a focus on working with infants and toddlers.
- Experience caring for newborns and toddlers, with a sensitivity to the needs of diverse families.
- Creativity in planning and implementing activities, with a focus on promoting healthy development.
