Job Title: Volunteers in Connected Families Parenting Support

VHA Home HealthCare is a leading provider of home care services in Ontario, and we are seeking dedicated volunteers to join our team in the Connected Families, Parenting Support Program. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting at-risk families with children from birth to four years old, providing temporary relief and promoting healthy development.

Responsibilities:
  • Visit families weekly for three hours, engaging in meaningful conversations and activities with parents and children.
  • Support parents in planning and preparing healthy meals for their children.
  • Provide information about community resources and accompany families to local centers and libraries.
  • Participate in ongoing education and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Complete weekly logs and reports to provide feedback and support to program staff.
Requirements:
  • Person-centered and caring attitude.
  • Related child development experience.
  • Experience caring for newborns and toddlers.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse families.
  • Strong active listening and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources and mental health support.
