Job Title: Volunteers in Connected Families Parenting Support

VHA Home HealthCare is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Volunteers in Connected Families Parenting Support. As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing temporary relief and support services to at-risk families caring for children from birth to four years of age.

About the Role:

As a Volunteer in Connected Families Parenting Support, you will work closely with families to provide emotional support, practical assistance, and guidance on parenting skills. Your role will involve:

  • Visiting families on a weekly basis for three hours per week
  • Engaging in meaningful conversations with parents and children
  • Providing simple comforts and stimulating activities for children to enhance their development
  • Partnering with parents to plan and prepare healthy meals for their children
  • Accompanying families to local community resources and events
  • Completing weekly logs and attending meetings and training sessions
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A person-centered and caring attitude
  • Related child development experience
  • Experience caring for newborns and toddlers
  • Experience working with culturally diverse families
  • Creativity in planning and implementing activities
  • Strong active listening and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of community resources and mental health
