**Description**:The Assembly of First Nations is seeking a detail oriented and highly organized Finance Officer responsible for ensuring that costs are allocated according to established procedures and in accordance with approved budget, monitoring, maintaining, and overseeing the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, travel expenses, and service contracts. The Finance Officer must comply with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Duties include perform day to day financial activities including accounts payables and receivables, printing cheques, preparing electronic fund transfers; prepare journal entries, month-end accruals; prepare month end account reconciliations; review GST, PST, QST and NRT returns and payments; assist in solving issues/challenges within finance area; and prepare financial reports.

Applicants must possess:

- A University degree in commerce, business, or accounting
- A minimum of 2-5 years of accounting experience
- Significant knowledge and understanding of current and acceptable financial practices and procedures

- Knowledge of AFN, First Nations organizational structures key mandates
- Self-motivated, team player excited to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and follow through in a timely manner

Cette personne sera chargée de veiller à ce que les coûts soient répartis selon les procédures établies et conformément au budget approuvé, de surveiller, maintenir et superviser le contrôle des comptes et des archives dans des domaines tels que les décaissements, les frais de déplacement et les contrats de service. Le ou la titulaire du poste devra se conformer aux principes comptables généralement reconnus (PCGR).
