Duties

What you will be doing?

This position will provide information, advice and guidance and respond to inquiries and issues from management, staff, clients, stakeholders, partners and the public; provide guidance to clients on the development of applications and submissions; interpret and explain NIHB Dental program services, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines. Review and evaluate program applications and submissions and prepare documentation and approval. Consult with clients to obtain and exchange information and discuss requirements and anomalies.

In the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of Indigenous Services Canada, we strive to provide access to quality health services, improve health outcomes, and support greater control of the health system for First Nations and Inuit. By joining our Department, you will have the opportunity to provide direct support related to health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.

Intent of the process

This process aims to create and maintain an inventory of applications that may be used to fill various term or indeterminate appointment opportunities. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to fill similar positions, in various locations and tenures.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Dental Hygiene OR a diploma in Dental assisting.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in providing advice and frontline services to clients.

ASSET EXPERIENCE

• Experience working in call centre.

• Experience working with Non-Insured Health Benefits.

• Experience using Adobe/Foxit.

• Experience working with First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.

• Significant* experience working in a clinical dental setting as a dental hygienist or as a chairside dental assistant or as a dental treatment coordinator in a dental office.

• Experience processing dental requests or claims.

• Experience providing analysis, review and the adjudication of claims with Non-Insured Health Benefits within the dental benefit section of Health Canada or Indigenous Service Canada.

• Experience in working with virtual call centre software such as Intermedia Contact Center.

• Experience in working with a claims processing system such as HICPS (Health Information & Claims Processing Services).

*Significant experience is defined as experience associated with working full time or a minimum of 21 hours per week in a dental clinical setting acquired over a period of approximately three (3) years.
