We are currently seeking a Junior Mortgage Underwriter to join our Third Party Residential Underwriting team. This role is essential in supporting the underwriting and credit evaluation process by meticulously reviewing all necessary documentation and exercising sound judgment.

The Junior Mortgage Underwriter will be tasked with identifying and escalating any discrepancies, concerns, or incomplete items that may pose a risk to the organization.

As part of the Third Party Residential Underwriting Division, you will provide underwriting expertise and services on behalf of various financial institutions within the mortgage broker sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with mortgage brokers to enhance loyalty to Accoravillage.
  • Maintain effective communication with external partners, including mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and legal professionals.
  • Engage with mortgage brokers to collect all required documentation to fulfill mortgage commitment conditions.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of documentation related to income, down payment, and property, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards prior to approving any mortgage conditions or documents.
  • Document clear and comprehensive notes within the mortgage underwriting system.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Previous experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred.
  • Experience in the Mortgage industry is an asset.
  • Completion of a Mortgage Agent Course and/or FSRA License is beneficial.
  • Proficient in PC software within a Windows environment is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products is essential.
