Unionville Home Society (UHS) is a not-for-profit charitable organization located in Unionville that has provided leadership in service to seniors since 1967.

Unionville Home Society and its affiliate corporations operate a long-term care home, seniors' housing, a seniors' active living center, an adult day program, and geriatric outreach services.

JOB SUMMARY


Reporting to the Director, Human Resources and Customer Service, the HR Assistant responsible to provide administrative supports to the HR department in recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, scheduling etc.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct fullcycle recruitment in collaboration with the hiring manager
  • Assist with the onboarding process for all new hires, including communicating with new hires prior to onboarding, conducting reference checks, etc.
  • Maintain and update employee records and files in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements
  • Response to employee inquiries and provide accurate and timely information related to HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Assist Scheduling Coordinator with scheduling and staffing duties when required, including creating schedules, coordinating coverage, and communicating with employees
  • Coordinate performance appraisal administration
  • Coordinate special HRrelated projects, training, and employee appreciation events.
  • Handle and respond to employee inquiries and questions regarding scheduling needs, employee benefits and entitlements, training needs, leave requests, interpretation of HR policies and collective agreement etc. in a timely manner.
  • Provide various HR statistics and reports supporting HR operations.
  • Perform other duties assigned from time to time.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Human Resources Diploma or Certificate from a recognized Community College or similar equivalent. CHRP designation an asset
  • 1 to 2 years office experience in HR or related field
  • Experience and skill in handling a fastpaced work environment, prioritizing and organizing workload and human relations
  • Unionized organization work experience is an asset
  • Ability of handling multiple tasks at one time and meeting deadlines.
  • Customerfocused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
  • High proficiency in computers
  • Microsoft Office, Work, Excel and Scheduling software.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage competing timetables and responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Exercise confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Organization


A valid Vulnerable-Sector Police Record Check and a valid 2-step Mantoux (TB) skin Test and a minimum of three doses of approved COVID-19 vaccination record are all required as part of the recruitment process.

Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months

Salary:
$20.00-$22.00 per hour
