Position OverviewTo support the Mission, Vision, and Values of Victoria Hospital and be a key player in the community hospital. Our goal is to offer compassionate and respectful care to patients, residents, staff, and community members, while fostering a culture of excellence that aligns with the Victoria Way.
Main Function:
- Collaborate with the Facilities Support Service Lead and/or Manager to oversee the operations of the Power House.
- Skilled in the operation and maintenance of the Physical Plant, including various equipment like boilers, refrigeration units, HVAC systems, engines, compressors, generators, pumps, and motors within the hospital premises.
- Proficient in budget management and adhering to schedules.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is advantageous.
- Holder of a valid 2nd Class Province of Manitoba Power Engineering Certificate in good standing (minimum of 5 years).
- Holder of a valid 2nd Class or higher Province of Manitoba Power Engineer's Certificate.
- Expertise in operating fired boilers, refrigeration systems, HVAC units, and all related equipment within the Power House and mechanical areas of the facility.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and equipment operation protocols.
- Ability to interpret blueprints accurately.
- Proficient in setting and adjusting priorities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to work autonomously.
- Adept at handling emergency situations.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Displays confidentiality in all hospital-related matters.
- Capability for moderate to heavy lifting.
- Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the position.
- Willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
Important:
This role mandates a recent satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as part of the employment conditions. Any related charges are the responsibility of the successful candidate. The security check should be obtained no more than six months before employment commences.
Please be aware that an individual cannot hold multiple positions totaling more than 1.0 EFT across the WRHA entities, including several health centers and programs.
