Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily operational activities relating to the biweekly payroll and benefits of over 1,000 employees & contractors in multiple companies over Canada, US & abroad (expats)
  • Weekly timecard collection
  • Assist with reconciliation of payroll and benefits related general ledger accounts
  • Enter, maintain and organize employee files
  • General Payroll department support
  • Prepare a variety of reports and remittances for payroll & benefits vendors and government agencies (i.e. CRA, WCB, MSP)
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, management, employees and external agencies
  • Assist with the administration of the group RRSP and 401(K) plans
  • Develop and maintain internal systems and related controls, with respect to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and other external audit requirements
  • Assist on special projects as they relate to the payroll/benefits functions

Requirements:

  • Canadian Payroll Association certification new graduate or up to 3 years of experience with fullcycle Canadian payroll
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now would be considered an asset
  • An eagerness to learn and take ownership of timesensitive processes
  • Meticulous and detailoriented; must have excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) with all audiences, with a proven ability to handle internal and external customers and questions kindly and effectively
  • Advanced Excel skills and Experience with US Payroll, Benefits, 401k would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards Act and Canada Revenue Agency Taxation Rules
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP system an asset
