The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a recognized community college Communicative Disorders Assistant graduate certificate program required

Skill, Ability and Experience:

  • Experience in a Communication Disorders Department in a clinical / health care setting preferred
  • Experience in adult neurogenic communication disorders and dysphagia preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written required
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multitask required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team required
  • Demonstrated commitment to Patient & Family Centred Care required
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary patient care team required
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record preferred
  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred

Principal Duties:

  • Conducts speech, language, cognitivecommunication and dysphagia therapy with patients as planned and managed by the Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Records data relative to client performance and reports changes in client performance / status to the supervising speechlanguage pathologist
  • Prepares clinical materials as required
  • Maintains equipment as required
  • Prepares appropriate communication aids
  • Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
  • Other related duties as assigned
