Inside the Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will primarily be responsible for the development of initiatives that support portfolio growth, fee income generation and new lending strategies. The BDM will lead or support projects within the Sales & Marketing department and the DTFS organization. Such projects could include but are not limited to, Zero Emission Vehicle lending, Portfolio Syndication and Insurance & Protection Products. The Business Development Manager will also have responsibility for on-boarding new Business Partners, carrying out the due diligence process and coordinating required actions across multiple departments. These would include, new Wholesale Dealers, Body Builders and additional products supported by Daimler Truck North America.

This is a DTFS Band 92.

What You Drive at DTFS

  • Working with the Director of Sales & Marketing to develop strategies that support portfolio growth, income generation and cross-functional project support.
  • Support or lead key projects within the Sales & Marketing department. Acting as the Project Manager, you will lead projects from inception to completion. Working with various departments, dealers or customers to coordinate objectives and deliver a completed work package. Projects will be variable in nature and determined based on the needs of the organization in a given year.
  • Growth and Segmentation Strategy – Based on annual strategies, the BDM would be required to support or actively engage customers / dealers. These initiatives could include: Vocational segment growth, real estate & capital loan lending and the development of products to support portfolio objectives.
  • Ownership of the Business Partner process, includes management of existing relationships, on-boarding new partners, due diligence and contractual agreements. Coordination with various departments to meet all compliance regulations.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ of related experience
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Marketing or Accounting
  • Progressive experience in the financial services industry, knowledge of captive finance
  • Previous Management Experience
  • Understanding of credit and dealer credit processes
  • Understanding of commercial financing – retail, lease, wholesale, mortgages, capital lending
  • Sales experience, territory management is preferred
  • Strong understanding of the commercial truck market in Canada – Class 8, 6/7 and Bus
  • Understanding of truck applications, use and related industries
