Flair Airlines is currently seeking a permanent full-time
Analyst, Regulatory, to join our growing and ever-changing organization.


The
Analyst, Regulatory can be based out of Edmonton, AB (YEG) or Calgary, AB (YYC) and some travel may be required.


Position Overview:

The Analyst, Regulatory is an integral part of the finance team and will report to the Manager, Revenue Accounting.


This position is responsible for preparing working papers relating to airline-specific fees and taxes for Canada, the US, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica as well as reconciling each account on a monthly basis.

This position also will be responsible for reporting and reconciling these fees and taxes according the schedule of each tax or airport authority.

The role requires an individual who will take initiative to work with other departments and external parties, i.e. CRA, IRS, Airport Authorities, to ensure accuracy and reliability.

The role requires an individual that can work in a fast paced, evolving environment.

This role requires a strong understanding of processes and controls and strong analytic skills.

Primary Job Functions:

The duties of the
Analyst, Regulatory **include:


  • Reconcile and report all airline-specific taxes and fees to the individual tax and airport authorities according to their schedule.
  • Review and ensure all tax rates are current and remitted on schedule
  • Ensure data integrity of all airline stats and report monthly to each airport authority
  • Act as a business partner with Commercial to ensure all tax rates and rules are current in all systems and facilitate in the testing of taxes for new destinations
  • Work with the Revenue Accounting team to troubleshoot variances and discrepancies
  • Help identify inefficiencies and develop strategies to automate existing manual processes
  • Proactivity develop and maintain relationships with internal and external parties
  • Support the Safety Management System program through participation and reporting
  • Other duties as assigned by the organization from time to time
  • Support in new project rollouts where applicable.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and/or enrolled in CPA program required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years progressively responsible experience for a startup company or division of a large corporation required
  • Extensive knowledge of reconciliation processes is required
  • Strong accounting transaction knowledge and understanding of full cycle
  • Previous Experience with Sage 300 an asset.

  • Previous airline experience would be considered an asset
