The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

**Role Responsibilities**:
As a result of the Police Amendment Act, the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services is implementing several measures that will enhance transparency, accountability and civilian oversight. Key reforms will enable the establishment of an independent and more straightforward process for complaints against the police, promote more diversity in policing and encourage greater collaboration between police and civilian partners to improve public safety. To assist in these efforts, a temporary two-year implementation team was established within the Public Security Division to lead the creation of a new public agency for police complaints, investigations, and coordination of disciplinary hearings and support internal and external stakeholder engagement, as well as regulatory development and the development of the new oversight agency.

**Policy Analyst**
Reporting to the Manager of Policy and Regulatory Development, the Policy Analyst leads and coordinates the development of policy and regulations that guide the operational functionality of the Police Review Commission. The position provides project management expertise to coordinate, monitor and report progress against project completion plans.

This position works collaboratively with internal PSES divisions, GoA ministries and external stakeholder groups including law enforcement agencies to plan, oversee, analyze, coordinate and implement substantial high-level policy for the Police Review Commission. The position conducts critical analysis of relevant information to provide strategic advice and options for the Police Review Commission related to policy and regulatory initiatives.

**Planning Analyst**
Reporting to the Manager of Organizational Development, the Planning Analyst is responsible for the design, development and establishment of the Police Review Commission as a new public agency, with a focus on work locations, accommodations, information technology, records management, and procurement of equipment and vehicles.

This position works collaboratively with internal divisions in the ministry, other GoA ministries and external stakeholder groups including law enforcement agencies to plan, analyze, coordinate and implement plans to operationalize the Police Review Commission. The position conducts research, analysis and planning to provide strategic and operational advice and options as it relates to work locations, accommodations, information technology, records management, and procurement of equipment and vehicles for the commission.

**Organizational Development Analyst**
Reporting to the Manager of Organizational Development, the Organizational Development Analyst is responsible for the design, development and establishment of the Police Review Commission as a new public agency, with a focus on organizational design, stakeholder engagement, position development and recruitment.

This position works collaboratively with internal divisions in the ministry, other GoA ministries and external stakeholder groups including law enforcement agencies to plan, analyze, coordinate and implement plans to operationalize the Police Review Commission. The position conducts research, analysis and planning to provide strategic and operational advice and options as it relates to organizational design, stakeholder engagement, position development and recruitment for the commission.
