**Policy Analyst (NP)**

**What You Will Do**
The Policy Analyst (Nurse Practitioner) will fulfill the following functions with a focus on advancing initiatives that support the regulation of Nurse Practitioners, including but not limited to:
- Developing a Nurse Practitioner community of practice across health and post-secondary systems to discuss, share and inform regulatory and practice research, knowledge sharing, policy development and partnership opportunities.
- Leading legislative, regulatory and policy briefings, focused on NP initiatives, to support decision making by CRNA leadership and Council.
- Providing Nurse Practitioner policy expertise to inform the development and implementation of regulatory initiatives.
- Representing the CRNA on Alberta, interprovincial and/or pan-Canadian Nurse Practitioner-focused committees that have a regulatory policy focus.
- Providing analysis, identify gaps and areas for improvement, and recommend regulatory policy related changes.
- Acting as key contact with other regulatory colleges, government representatives and other stakeholders for matters pertaining to Nurse Practitioner regulatory policy-related matters.
- Promoting policy development internally by working collaboratively across multiple departments and ensuring that the appropriate resources are in place to support the process.
- Developing expertise with international, federal, provincial Nurse Practitioner best and promising practices and frameworks to stay on top of current trends and advise CRNA leadership of new and emerging initiatives, opportunities and/or risks.
- Monitoring Nurse Practitioner activity, legislation, and regulations to ensure the CRNA is adhering to requirements and is positioned well for the future.
- Conducting environmental scanning, literature reviews and interviews with health system partners to inform the development (or improvement) of Nurse Practitioner focused policies.
- Supporting departments and business units across the organization with other general regulatory policy-related needs
- Recommending best/promising practices innovations and improvements to regulatory (and Nurse Practitioner practice) related policies and processes.
- Supporting regulatory process, policy, and procedure development.
- Leading the development of Nurse Practitioner decision/discussion/briefing documents for CRNA leadership and Council related to regulatory and strategic initiatives.
- Conducting research, engage in analysis and develop regulatory recommendations in response to requests from CRNA leadership and Council.
- Leading Nurse Practitioner focused regulatory knowledge sharing initiatives (e.g., publications in academic/professional journals, presentations, conference abstracts).
- Leading the development of comprehensive Nurse Practitioner focused research and policy papers.
- Supporting and assist with implementation of the CRNA's diversity and inclusion initiatives with a focus on initiatives affecting registrants.
- Supporting research, policy/process development, etc., for the CRNA's Council and governance committees, as appropriate.
**What You Possess**
- Nurse Practitioner in good standing with a minimum of 10 years of experience. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Demonstrated leadership experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of health system issues, initiatives and opportunities is required.
- Maintain registration with the CRNA (including maintaining currency as a Nurse Practitioner).
- Demonstrated ability to build sustainable relationships both internally and externally with the organization.
- Excellent analytical and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong organizational and meeting facilitation skills.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust quickly to changing priorities and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to recognize and handle confidential information in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of current regulatory issues, initiatives and opportunities is preferable.
