**Policy Analyst (General)**

**What You Will Do**
The Policy Analyst will fulfill the following functions, including but not limited to:
- Develop a community of practice across the health system to discuss, share and inform regulatory research, knowledge sharing, policy development and partnership opportunities.
- Represent the CRNA on Alberta, interprovincial and/or pan-Canadian committees that have a regulatory policy focus.
- Act as key contact with other regulatory colleges, government representatives and other stakeholders for matters pertaining to regulatory policy-related matters.
- Promote policy development internally by working collaboratively across multiple departments and ensure that the appropriate resources are in place to support the process.
- Develop expertise with international, federal, provincial regulatory best practices and frameworks to stay on top of current trends and advise CRNA leadership of new and emerging initiatives, opportunities and/or risks.
- Monitor government activity, legislation, and regulations to ensure the CRNA is adhering to requirements and is positioned well for the future.
- Provide analysis, identify gaps and areas for improvement, and recommend regulatory policy related changes.
- Lead legislative, regulatory and policy briefings to support decision making by CRNA leadership and Council.
- Conduct environmental scanning, literature reviews and interviews with health system partners to inform the development (or improvement) of policies.
- Recommend best/promising practices innovations and improvements to regulatory (and governance) related policies and processes.
- Support regulatory process, policy, and procedure development.
- Lead the development of decision/discussion/briefing documents for CRNA leadership and Council related to regulatory and strategic initiatives.
- Lead the development of comprehensive research and policy papers.
- Support departments and business units across the organization with regulatory policy-related needs.
- Provide policy expertise to inform the development and implementation of regulatory initiatives.
- Lead the development of a regulatory research framework.
- Conduct research, engage in analysis and develop regulatory recommendations in response to requests from CRNA leadership and Council.
- Support research, policy/process development, etc., for the CRNA's Council and governance committees, as appropriate.
- Lead regulatory knowledge sharing initiatives (e.g., publications in academic/professional journals, presentations, conference abstracts).
- Support and assist with implementation of the CRNA's diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Collaborate with the CRNA's Communication and Engagement Unit to develop a regulatory policy newsletter for internal publication (including Council).
**What You Possess**
- A master's degree in health, nursing, social sciences, public administration, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience is required. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Knowledge of health system issues, initiatives and opportunities is required.
- Demonstrated ability to build sustainable relationships both internally and externally with the organization.
- Excellent analytical and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong organizational and meeting facilitation skills.
- Ability to prioritize and adjust quickly to changing priorities and execute in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to recognize and handle confidential information in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of current regulatory issues, initiatives and opportunities is preferable.
- Knowledge of legislation and regulation relevant to nursing and health care is preferable.
