has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for a
_Paver Operator_ to work with our company's Asphalt Paving division for the upcoming 2024 road construction season.
The primary duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:
- General site housekeeping which includes keeping the paver tidy and free of any garbage.
- Communicate with the truckers and assist in backing them up to the paver.
- Work with the screed men and foreman to develop a paving plan for each day.
- Cooperate with the screed men and handle any special situations
- Monitor the mix in the trucks, ensuring that you have the right mix and that it isn't too rocky, oily or dry.
- Controlling the unloading of trucks and ensuring the proper procedure is followed at all times.
- At the end of the day, clean the paver and its components of any asphalt, including the hopper, tracks, screed, etc.
Requirements:
- Have an understanding of the construction industry and road construction specifications and standards
- FOR OPERATORS: Must maintain a driving record that meets Park Paving's minimum standards for vehicle and equipment operation 6 or fewer demerits in 3 years, no dangerous driving charges, no DUI charges, etc.
- Display a professional and courteous approach with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
- Must be physically fit repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, walking for long periods of time.
- Be able to work in inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
- Punctual and able to work full time, overtime, and weekends
Pay Scale:
$30 - $36
