Holcim offers comprehensive construction services and is currently in search of a seasonal, full-time Paver Operator.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and manage the Paver efficiently and effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth Paver operations.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on the Paver as directed by the foreman or lead hand.
- Engage in physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, bending, and twisting.
- Support various job functions within the paving crew.
- Uphold the safety of personnel, the community, and the environment.
- Complete daily equipment checklists accurately.
- Monitor and ensure the quality of asphalt produced.
- Ensure material production adheres to specifications.
- Maintain a consistent feed to the paver to produce high-quality results.
- Foster a collaborative team environment.
- Identify and implement best practices in operations.
Safety & Environment:
- Comply with all safety and environmental policies and procedures, with training provided.
- Immediately contain any spills and notify the appropriate authorities as per established protocols.
Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on the Paver, including cleaning and washing.
- Maintain accurate service records for all operated equipment, documenting maintenance performed, hours of operation, and other relevant details.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating a screed.
- Familiarity with City of Edmonton Specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of the Edmonton area.
- Ability to interpret survey markings.
Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate sound judgment, prioritize safety, and communicate effectively within a team. This role is physically demanding, requiring actions such as crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling. A pre-employment medical assessment may be necessary. The candidate should have a proven track record of adhering to safe work practices and completing field risk assessments.
