Holcim operates in the construction sector and is currently looking for a full-time, seasonal Paver Operator.
Responsibilities:
- Proficient in the operation and functionality of a Paver.
- Collaborate with team members to efficiently operate the Paver.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on the Paver as directed by the site foreman or lead hand.
- Engage in physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting, bending, and twisting.
- Support various job functions within the paving crew.
- Ensure the safety of colleagues, the community, and the environment.
- Complete daily equipment checklists diligently.
- Monitor and maintain the quality of asphalt.
- Ensure material production adheres to specifications.
- Maintain a consistent feed to the paver to guarantee a high-quality output.
- Foster a collaborative team environment.
- Identify and implement best practices in operations.
Safety & Environment:
- Comply with all safety and environmental policies and practices – training will be provided.
- In the event of a spill, contain it immediately and notify the appropriate authorities as per established procedures.
Maintenance:
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on the Paver, including cleaning and washing.
- Maintain accurate service records for all equipment operated, documenting maintenance performed, hours logged, and other relevant details; proof of regular servicing may be required.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating a screed.
- Familiarity with City of Edmonton Specifications.
- Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of equipment.
- Knowledge of the surrounding area.
- Ability to interpret survey markings.
Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, prioritize safety, and communicate effectively within a team setting. This role is physically demanding, requiring the ability to crouch, bend, lift, and kneel. A pre-employment medical assessment may be necessary. The chosen candidate will have a proven history of adhering to safe work practices and will be capable of conducting field risk assessments.
