Position Summary:

  • Greet visitors and answer general inquiries with a pleasant demeanor
  • Process payments for purchases, donations and group visits
  • Assist customers in gift shop, offer suggestions
  • Data entry for financial reports
  • Gather statistical data
  • Maintain inventories for giftshop and office supplies
  • Receive and distribute packages
  • Be present for events, conferences etc. evenings or weekends (on occasion)


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities- 1 year experience in a museum or in retail an asset- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with visitors and colleagues- Customer-service oriented attitude and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure visitor satisfaction- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with diverse audiences- Ability to handle unexpected situations with professionalism and tact- D.E.C.

or relevant experience in museums or retail industry an asset- Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.

The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
