As a privately funded organization, Campfire Circle donors make thousands of life-changing experiences possible for Campers throughout the year, all across Ontario.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Campfire Circle is currently seeking a Maintenance Staff to support our Sites & Facilities team at our Muskoka site. The Maintenance Staff is accountable for the overall maintenance and repair of the residential camp facilities.
These accountabilities achieve the Sites and Facilities team vision to improve, preserve and strengthen all Campfire Circle sites to create an environment that will uphold and enhance the programs and services we provide.
This position will be based near Rosseau, ON.The key accountabilities of this role include:
- Planning & Coordination
- Assist the Facilities Manager with the identification and coordination of an ongoing work list for site and maintenance and repair.
- Actively participate and contribute to health and safety & emergency management programs on site.
- Regularly utilize digital tools (including WorxHub) to track / manage deliverables.
- Team Leadership
- Periodically lead small work crews of staff and volunteers during the summer season and work camp sessions.
- Assist in onthejob training, coaching, and mentoring of summer staff.
- On a limited basis, assign daily work lists to summer staff.
- On a limited basis, facilitate site access to subcontractors and suppliers, including completion of work orders.
- Site Maintenance and Repair
- Monitor and perform tasks / duties associated with the upkeep, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment and facilities.
This includes but is not limited to:
- a) Identify and facilitate repairs where necessary; tracking through WorxHub.
- b) Work with the Facilities Manager via the WorxHub to prioritize daily tasks and close out tickets once work is done.
- c) Perform daily site checks as established / assigned, document in WorxHub, and directly inform Facilities Manager of deficiencies.
- Areas & Systems covered in this role include, but are not limited to:
- a) All buildings and their integral systems (electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, communications, emergency systems, structural, waste management).
- c) Vehicles, tractors, boats, UTVs, snow removal equipment, all tools and equipment.
- d) Grounds, roads, pathways, greenspaces, gardens, trails, forest, docks, decks, and all aspects of the property.
- Actively promote a healthy and safe workplace culture by ensuring self and others adhere to health & safety requirements and maintain a positive work / life balance.
- Monitor facilities to help ensure safe and proper functioning; advise Facilities Manager of any deficiencies or required repairs.
- Provide support that encompasses daily routine tasks, weekly tasks, site changeovers, monthly / seasonal tasks, annual tasks, site shutdown / startup, and special events.
- Monitor the stocks of supplies that are used in the role and notify the Facilities Manager when stocks become low.
- Notify the Facilities Manager, both verbally and in writing, of hazards, needed repairs, breakdowns, adverse indicators, near misses, accidents, or other matters that could put people or assets at risk.
- While keeping Facilities Manager informed & updated on activities, take initiative & work independently.
ABOUT YOU
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Criteria:_
- Able to perform the tasks associated with maintenance work, use of associated tools and equipment, work on a ladder, lift and carry loads, walk, stand or bend over for extended periods during the work day.
- A competent understanding of construction, electrical, plumbing and septic, water and other systems; & able to clearly communicate with associated suppliers / contractors.
- A basic understanding of the Ontario Building Code.
- An aptitude for the operation and maintenance of camp tools / equipment / machinery.
- General knowledge of seasonal landscaping methods, needs and care.
- Working knowledge of small drinking water treatment systems / wastewater systems and current certification as a Small Drinking Water Systems Operator (or readiness to obtain and maintain that certification).
- Valid Ontario driver's license and ability to use Class G vehicles.
- Comfort working in a medically based camp environment.
- An understanding of the workings of a camp site and the elements of a camp program.
