About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Heart Health Health Services Manager the Booking Officer is responsible for the efficient and effective scheduling/booking of Cardiac Surgery as well as the efficient management of hospital beds and services for optimum patient flow.

This individual acts as a liaison with various departments including Cardiac Day unit, Cardiac Cath/Heart Rhythm lab, Cardiologist, Anesthesiologist, Surgeons and their offices, Ambulatory clinics, Nursing units, Patient Flow Managers.

The Cardiac Surgery Booking Officer is responsible for contacting patients via telephone/mail out regarding procedure dates and clinic appointments. In addition, he/she is responsible for booking patients needing accommodations at Point Pleasant Lodge.

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII plus the successful completion of a recognized secretarial/administrative program
  • 2 years booking experience required
  • Medical terminology required
  • Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm preferred
  • Previous experience with complex bookings preferred
  • Knowledge of both Cardiology inpatient programs and ambulatory clinics is necessary for the scheduling of both the inpatient and outpatient patient population
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills, strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
  • Proficiency with all components of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency in STAR, PHS, Novari, HPF, Share Clinical Portal
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm during urgent situations and deal with numerous interruptions and continuous change an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
