Job Summary

The Dalhousie Bookstore supports academic success and promotes campus pride while serving students, faculty and staff and the wider Halifax community with three physical locations, found in the Student Union Building, and on the Sexton and Agricultural Campuses. Reporting to the Course Materials Manager, the Receiving/Ecommerce Clerk is responsible for the accurate receipt and inventory control of incoming and outgoing merchandise as well as website maintenance and ecommerce fulfillment and acts as a first point of contact for all ecommerce customers.

Key Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, the incumbent is responsible for the accurate receipt and inventory control of all incoming and outgoing products for three venues on campus. Coordinates and processes returns of unsold, overstocked course materials, supplies, and merchandise. Maintains detailed records of outgoing shipments and quotes from our major shipping partners. Provides a high level of customer service to and is the point of first contact for e-commerce customers. Responsible for timely fulfillment and processing of all online orders. Troubleshoots any issues customers may have with the website and ensure corrective action is taken. Oversees the “Books in Residence” program, an initiative taken on by the bookstore to provide extra service to students attending Dalhousie each fall. Audits and updates website and promotes affiliate stores. Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises part-time student staff.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications

Business/Office Administration program with five years’ experience in shipping/receiving and online sales and fulfillment (or an equivalent combination of training and experience). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong technical skills and an aptitude for learning new computer programs. Experience in website maintenance and ecommerce. Extensive customer service experience.

Assets

Undergraduate degree. Experience in a university setting. Supervisory experience. Retail experience.
