WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Our work environment is evolving. We are dedicated to providing a productive and collaborative remote working experience for all staff. We have also learned from experience that some in-person interaction is important in being able to nurture the culture, creativity, interconnection, and psychological safety of our team. Currently, our staff work mostly from home, but it is still a requirement to come into the office about once a month or every six weeks, as well as when required by your manager or the organization[1] . Ability to travel within Canada is also required.
  • Although we invite all qualified applicants to apply, the successful candidate will ideally be located in the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Work outside of regular business hours (evening/weekends) will be required occasionally.

Reporting to the National Director of Programs & Impact, you would be responsible for growing and delivering our key program activities across Eastern Canada. This includes and is not limited to, outreach and partnership development, recruitment, interviewing, vetting, training, onboarding, client and volunteer support, program events, and program conclusion.

You will be accountable for meeting partner development and program delivery targets and growing our program opportunities to align with our strategic plan. As part of our diverse team, you will be expected to manage your staff to ensure the growth and maintenance of our Western Canada programs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Program and Project Management

  • Plan and organize the delivery and promotion of our Eastern Canada program.
  • Meet key program/project targets such as the number of partnership agencies and number of clients served.
  • Develop and manage the region's program budget.
  • Work with your team to build our coach and other skilled volunteer communities, assist with the development of educational professional development sessions and group meetings.
  • Apply project and change management skills toward the improvement of program excellence, impact measurement and project development and delivery.
  • As part of the Regional Manager team, plan, develop and organize the policies and procedures of the department.
  • Manage and facilitate group sessions for clients and volunteers.
  • Set and carry out priorities and recognize emergent or urgent needs to be acted on.

Talent Management

  • Direct, manage and lead a defined team of staff members.
  • Devise, plan and implement staff development strategies with particular attention to the maintenance of high-performance standards, and alignment to organizational culture and values.
  • Maintain performance management of team and team members with clear objectives and responsibilities for tasks and decisions.
  • Provide annual performance reviews for your team.
  • Recruit and onboard new staff members, volunteers, and consultants.

Agency Partnerships

  • Grow, develop, and maintain partnerships with various community agencies and organizations, including employment agencies, shelters, drop-ins, neighborhood, newcomer and health/mental health programs and centers, and local government agencies.
  • Deliver informative and engaging presentations to agencies and prospective agency partners and clients, virtually and/or in person.
  • Recruit volunteer professional coaches and build relationships with coach associations and schools.
  • Build other relevant stakeholder partnerships, including with local and regional governments, funders and potential funders, and coaching schools and institutions.

Strategy and Marketing

  • Develop and execute scaling, delivery and outreach initiatives that align with the organization's strategic plan.
  • Develop social and traditional media marketing and communications plan for Eastern Canada.
  • Assist in local fundraising, including presenting, researching and qualifying government funding opportunities for national and Eastern Canada service delivery and projects, contributing to grant and proposal writing, and setting up major donor meetings, and fundraising or thank you events as needed.

Operations

  • Attend meetings to represent UWW/EXP, ensuring necessary follow-up.
  • Coordinate and execute projects and operational services.
  • Prepare letters, reports, and other documents as required.
  • Cooperate directly with other members of the UWW/EXP team as needed to support execution of duties.

Other duties assigned as required.

WHAT YOU CAN OFFER

Required

  • 5-10 years of experience in non-profits, social impact organizations, government, or community agencies.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working in a management or supervisory position.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Project, program and change management skills and experience, with a demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic planning skills and experience, with a demonstrated ability to track and document progress across multiple important priorities.
  • Equity, diversity and inclusion skills and experience, with a demonstrated ability to create and implement sustainability initiatives.
  • Knowledge of and experience with trauma-informed practices and approaches.
  • Strong operational, analytical, communication, interpersonal and presentation competencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. French language skills considered an asset.
  • High computer literacy skills.

Preferred

  • A bachelor's degree or degree relevant to the position will be considered an asset, but not essential.
  • A combination of lived experience and non-academic credentials is also valued.
