We are headquartered in Calgary and maintain a satellite office in Houston.The Senior Piping Material Specialist participates in the design of different aspects of energy industry projects from inception to completion.
Being the main project point of contact for the coordination of piping materials.Exercising cost/budget control, and reviewing and monitoring designs for conformance with control estimates and project specifications
Reviewing and maintaining project schedules, and tracking project tasks and deliverables in conjunction with project management
Supervising the various activities involved in the design of a project consisting of several complex process units
Providing technical guidance to junior staff
Maintaining current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards
Reviewing vendor or subcontractor quotations, drawings, and specifications for technical adequacy and conformance with project requirements
Adhering to Vista Quality Management System (QMS)
Assigning and outlining work for others, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy
Completing and reviewing piping data in the line list
Preparing and reviewing engineering work packages
Preparing and reviewing material requisitions and technical bid evaluations
Preparing material take-offs (MTO) for piping, valves, fittings and specialty items or check MTO if created from the 3D model
Eight years of progressive experience in facilities engineering and design in the energy industry
Technical school certification / degree or equivalent experience.
Ability to work and collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team including Process, Mechanical, Civil, Structural & Architectural, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls and Piping Engineers and Designers as well as Project Management and Procurement personnel
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
