Job Summary:

The Assessment Accounts Representative (AAR) is the primary contact for new and existing employers and is responsible for the assessment, billing and overall maintenance of employer assessment accounts. The AAR responds to WCB account enquiries from employers and their representatives by phone, in writing, through webchat, by e-mail or in person. Job Duties:

Responds to customer inquiries by phone, e-mail, in writing and in person in accordance with departmental customer service standards; provides information on WCB policy, procedures and legislation, secures and investigates information, and resolves problems.

Registers employers by obtaining information on the business and determining the appropriate industry classification and rate of assessment; determines and approves special or voluntary coverage; determines status as "worker" or "employer" under the Act.

Performs all aspects of employer account maintenance including decisions related to assessment rates and classifications, adjustments, worker and Independent Contractor Criteria (ICC) status, gathers earnings information, performs annual billing, amalgamations, cost transfers, administers penalties and/or arbitrary assessments in cases of non-compliance; cancels personal or voluntary coverage, closes out files; calculates and issues adjustment refunds of up to $2,500.00 to employers.

Communicates through written correspondence, personal interview and telephone with employers and their representatives; reviews requests for and issues Certificates of Disposition of Assets; determines and requests transfer of claim costs from the vendor to the purchaser and applies the vendor's rate of assessment to the purchaser.

Prepares and processes the Annual Payroll Forms (APF); assists in the collection of outstanding information and assessments on (imposed payroll) accounts.

Makes decisions on reconsiderations of original assessment policy and procedure decisions.

Assists Compensation Services staff with assessment issues on claim files, including collecting information and determining appropriate coverage status.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Completion of a two (2) year diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline

Minimum two (2) years' experience interpreting and applying processes and procedures to manage and resolve customer inquiries/concerns

Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is required

Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and software in a Windows environment

Ability to interpret and apply provisions of policies, procedures and legislation

Ability to obtain, assess and evaluate information to support decisions

Ability to perform detailed and accurate work

Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to deal with internal and external stakeholders

Excellent customer service skills including the ability to manage potentially confrontational situations with tact and diplomacy

Ability to organize and prioritize workload

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Knowledge of WCB policies, procedures and the WCB Act, would be an asset Additional Information:

Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is a requirement.

A bilingual designation means that the position requires an employee to be able to participate in conversations and satisfy many work requirements in French. The employee must be able to discuss worked-related matters with ease and also express opinions and offer viewpoints. The employee must be able to take part in a variety of verbal exchanges and participate in meetings and discussion groups. In some cases, the employee will, as part of their duties, have to write reports and correspondence in French. Designated bilingual positions involve not only simple kinds of interaction with the public but types of interaction that are more complex.
