Reporting to the Managing Director, Alberta, the Manager, Recycling Contracts will support the delivery of collection and post services from key partner(s) delivering collection, processing, logistics, material auditing and community support services as outlined in the Statement(s) of Work (SOW) executed by Circular Materials Alberta.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop subject matter expertise in Alberta’s Extended Producer Regulation (EPR)
  • Understand and ensure compliance with Agreements and Statements of Work for collection and post-collection contracts with communities and contractors alike. 
  • Foster productive relationships with contract partners through various collaborative efforts, including refining processes, oversight, issue resolution, and contract negotiation.
  • Identify, implement, and participate in studies and pilot projects to test alternative collection processing methods and innovative technologies.
  • Collaborate with team members managing the j Collection System, material quality, and auditing to ensure efficient, effective, and regulatory-compliant operations.
  • Interface with other departments handling administrative and financial aspects of the relationship.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of procedures during the Alberta EPR program transition. 
  • Manage the annual calendar of critical contract events, ensuring adherence to obligations.
  • Recommend departmental continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Record all interactions with collection and post-collection service providers in the enterprise system.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration or equivalent, along with formal training in contract management and negotiation skills (preferred).

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in managing waste management contracts, including negotiating new contracts and change orders.
  • 3+ years of experience in collection or post-collection recycling management, including Material Recycling Facility processing and end market management.
  • Knowledge of waste management services and processes related to PPP materials.
  • Strong relationship management and negotiation skills, technical proficiency with MS Office suite and business analytic tools, experience managing competing priorities at a senior level, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
