To learn more about the company including a locations map, visit us at: Details:The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) in the expanding Utility Pole Division at Stella-Jones is responsible for proactively managing their book of business and executing day-to-day sales activities for select accounts within an assigned region. RSMs at Stella-Jones are typically home-based (remote), individual contributors with no direct reports and report to a Director-level sales leader. To learn more about our utility pole products (including a 1 minute video overview), visit our product page: specific Regional Sales Manager territory primarily consists of various portions of within Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, and are responsible for executing day-to-day sales activities as they apply to those accounts. This is a home-based remote role and the RSM must live in California or the Southwest region as this position involves significant travel within the territory and includes a company vehicle.Responsibilities: Provide prompt and accurate response to all customer inquiries for pricing, information, etc.Provide input for your customer’s written procedures, which are developed by the Customer Service Team and drive how Customer Service engages with customer and process orders.Read and understand customer contracts – seek assistance as needed.Know and understand each customers specification – establish relationship with Technical Services.Maintain regular contact with existing major customers, including a minimum of quarterly visits.Maintain regular contact with existing other customers, including regular visits as warranted by the business volume.Increase depth of contacts within existing customer - procurement (category management and purchasing) engineering, materials, construction, environmental, outside consultants as appropriate, etc.Prioritize book of business to understand value each brings to Stella-Jones and prioritize investment of time and other resources accordingly.Regularly review the flow of customer interaction details and the above-mentioned procedures and look for bottlenecks and functions that are time or cost-consuming for company or customer, then develop ideas as to how to modify procedures to alleviate the bottleneck.Evaluate overall customer interactions and develop ideas to improve on the processes including ideas to lower costs.Be proactive in managing customer, communicating market factors, and jointly developing goals.ID and develop solutions to customer facing issues and work with your Director to update and/or implement.Develop and monitor KPI’s and review with customers as required.Proactively pursue contract extension opportunities.Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of regular workweek.Perform other related duties as assignedLogisticsWork with logistics to locate logistics solutions as needed.ID better or lower cost rail or trucking locations or options in your territory.MarginStay abreast of competitors that are pursuing customers.Understand all aspects of customer programs including point of production, transportation methods (and associated rates) employed, establish relationships with coworkers involved in servicing that account.Inventory ManagementEnsure inventory targets are evaluated on a least an annual basis.Participate and support inventory counts – actively engage with operations and freight.New Customer DevelopmentSeek out, investigate, and obtain knowledge of their current procurement practices and current supplier interface (including how supplied, from what plant, any railroad routes or distribution points utilized etc.) and use knowledge to help operations and logistics find a low-cost plan to service potential customers.Establish technical as well as business contacts to achieve bidder approval and encourage an opportunity to offer a proposal presentation.Analyze available supply options to determine lowest cost optionBid Tender PreparationDevelop and make prompt and accurate quotations.Follow-up on quotes to maintain current knowledge of competition and market pricing.Manage the preparation & presentation of major bid tenders - securing bid package, workload distribution, options evaluation, logistics input, correspondence, cover letter, etc.Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Marketing, Business Administration, or EngineeringThree (3) or more years of direct sales to industrial customers, sales to utilities preferredProficiency in French, spoken and writtenProficiency in English, spoken and writtenEffective interpersonal and communication skills.Problem solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills.Ability to deal with complex problems.“Lead by example” work manner.Maintain positive and enthusiastic attitude even in adverse situations.Time and Stress management.Capability of multi-task and work under pressure for deadlinesAs a Stella-Jones employee, you will enjoy access to excellent benefits and incentives, including:Company VehicleExtended health and dental coverageLife insurance and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D)Short-Term and Long-Term disability coverageCompetitive compensationAnnual Profit Share ProgramRetirement program (RRSP) with generous Company match (150% of employee's 4% contribution)Company Share Purchase Program with 10% Company contribution matchCareer advancement opportunities
