Posting Summary Position Title Student Research Assistant Faculty/Department Faculty of Arts Unit Arts-Journalism Employee Group CUPE 2419 CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Student Number of Vacancies 6 Position Summary Student Research Assistants are sought to assist university-based researchers and their media partners in developing research-based journalism investigations and feature stories for broadcast and print.
We seek enterprising researchers who have a keen interest in investigative journalism, data journalism and solutions journalism.
Database analysis;
Outreach to community members;
Writing story drafts; Assisting the research needs and journalism work of the project.
Mentorship, skills development opportunities, and appropriate research and/or byline credit for project publications provided.
Current or graduating student at an accredited post-secondary Canadian journalism and/or communications program.
Knowledge of Indigenous issues and cultural contexts is a strong asset.
Remote work options are available, but students must be based in Canada and eligible to work in Canada.
Successful applicants may potentially integrate this position with a for-credit internship from your home institution, contingent on agreement between the research lead and your program head.
Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 2419 Salary Range As Per CUPE 2419 Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
