Our client, a leading employment and labour law firm representing employers, is seeking an experienced Employment and Labour Legal Assistant to join their team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform legal assistant, clerical, and administrative duties for 2-3 lawyers
  • Draft, prepare, and revise routine correspondence and documents
  • Assist in preparing briefs and records for trials and hearings, ensuring electronic formatting complies with online court filing system specifications
  • Draft court and tribunal forms, arranging for the service and filing of all forms, corresponding documents, and pleadings
  • Communicate effectively with lawyers and clients
  • Monitor deadlines, send reminders, and assist lawyers in preparing and filing timely responses
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with the firm’s practice and file management policies and procedures
  • Monitor, file, and triage lawyers’ emails, responding to urgent client matters as directed
  • Maintain a tickler and bring forward system
  • Enter dockets and expense claims
  • Organize files and expedite workflow
  • Prepare files for closing by file clerk


Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in employment and labour law
  • Legal Secretarial Diploma or equivalent
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and an independent thinker
  • Strong multitasking, prioritizing, and time-management skills
  • Committed to a team and goal-oriented environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
