General Purpose of This Position:

Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Administrator will perform all required duties to ensure that employees are paid on time and accurately. The Payroll Administrator collects, verifies, and processes payroll information. In addition, the Payroll Administrator will also provide assistance and support to other departments requiring payroll information or reports.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Health & Safety

  • Work in compliance with all health and safety rules and regulations for Cementation.
  • Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report to Health and Safety Department.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collect, verify, and process payroll information.
  • Generate, distribute, and reconcile bonus reports.
  • Calculate and process any required payroll adjustments.
  • Enter payroll deductions, overrides, and verify garnishments.
  • Process semi-monthly payroll.
  • Provide support to employees or other departments for any payroll related matters.
  • Print or email pay stubs to employees.
  • Assist with financial internal and external audit requests.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources, ensuring that employee information is accurately entered into the accounting system.
  • Assist with training site staff on the use of the electronic timesheet system.
  • Calculate and reconcile provincial and federal payroll source deductions and remittance advices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Travel Requirements:

  • This position would not normally have the requirement to travel.

Education & Experience

  • Diploma in Business Administration or Certificate in Payroll.
  • National Payroll Institute Designation (NPI) would be an asset.
  • 1 - 3 years of direct working experience in a business environment.
  • General understanding of financial accounting and how payroll details are incorporated.
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards Oracle software would be an asset.
  • Experience in the Mining Industry would also be considered an asset.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Task oriented, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, specifically Excel and Outlook.
  • Comfortable working in a paperless environment and proficient using Adobe Acrobat software.
