CANADIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (CPL) & CANADIAN SOCCER BUSINESS (CSB) – WHO WE ARE

We are two organizations under one roof with a shared goal of making soccer the #1 sport in Canada. More specifically, we are Canada’s Tier 1 professional soccer league (Canadian Premier League or CPL) and a related commercial business (Canadian Soccer Business or CSB) that complement one another in pursuit of this goal.

The CPL currently has eight member Clubs serving communities from coast to coast. CPL is in the midst of its sixth season, building upon our record setting revenue growth and playoffs to end the campaign. In addition to playing in domestic competitions (CPL and the Canadian Championship series), we also
represent Canada in the global FIFA ecosystem via our regional club competition, the Concacaf Champions Cup with two direct entries every year.

CSB is a commercial agency that is the engine of growth for Canadian Soccer. It represents media rights and a suite of leading national corporate partnership properties including Canada Soccer’s Women’s and Men’s National Teams, Youth National Teams, Canadian Championships, CPL and its member Clubs, and League1 Canada. League1 Canada is the country’s top pro-am league, a key part of the pathway to professional soccer for all Canadians including 80 women’s teams and men’s teams.

With Canada hosting matches in the FIFA World Cup ™ with co-hosts Mexico and the United

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

● Responsible for hitting Partnerships revenue targets (net partnership / sponsorship revenues) as set out by the CSB/CPL

● Assisting with strategy building and implementation of new sales strategies for all Partnerships efforts

● Prospecting new Corporate Partnership opportunities externally for Canada Soccer, CPL, League1 Canada and other properties for which CSB acts as an agent

● Integrate broadcast media and digital assets into partnership programming in unique and effective ways

● Identifying internal programming and stadium elements across the CPL to generate new revenue streams

● Develop and maximize networking opportunities with potential partners and relevant marketing agencies

● Understand the prospect’s brand DNA and design sales presentations to reflect brand
synergies and positioning

● Deliver impactful on-brand and on-target partnership programs for new business prospects

● Use storytelling to effectively sell-in partnership ideas to new business prospects

● Develop, visualize and present customized partnership solutions for prospective partners

● Facilitate ideation by leading cross-functional brainstorms to inform creative solutions

● Effectively delegate responsibility to the Partnership Service Team to ensure all contracted elements are fulfilled and over delivered upon

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS

● Drives revenue and surpasses all departmental revenue targets

● Establishes and maintains positive relationships with prospects and new partners

● Creates and implements new partnership opportunities to drive incremental revenue

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE)

Job Specific Skills and Abilities:

● Proven track-record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets

● Prior experience using business intelligence to prospect, pitch and close partnership deals

● Experience developing sponsorship property assets that align with partner objectives

● Is positive, outgoing and enjoys selling

● Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

● Is self-motivated and gets out of bed every day excited about coming to work, driving revenue and deliver value to customers

Education and Experience:

● Minimum of 5 years of partnership sales experience at either the agency, brand or property side

● Proven track record of driving sales and revenue

● Post-secondary degree/diploma in marketing, business, sports administration or other related disciplines an asset

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

● Will be required to travel and work evenings and weekends when necessary

● Will be required to have access to a vehicle at all times
