Job Summary

Reporting to the Co-Chairs of the Joint Executive Steering Committee (JESC), and with guidance from the Executive of Community Strategy and Operations, the Ontario Health Team (OHT) Executive Director will function as a key leader and is accountable for building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners to optimize the health and wellness of our community. The Executive Director supports a culture that enables collaboration amongst partners and employs project management best practices to plan and implement strategic and operational plans and key business processes. Together with the JESC and its members, and established committee structures, the OHT Executive Director is a driver of the OHT’s vision, mandate and values and will play an important ambassadorial role for the OHT with all community sectors.

Primary Responsibilities

· Provide leadership, vision, guidance and support to the design and implementation of the NYSS OHT, in alignment with the goals and objectives of the OHT, and overall direction of Ontario Health
· Works toward achieving consensus of health care providers for the NYSS OHT
· Function as the key integrator of all OHT activities by providing leadership, oversight, and direction to all committee structures, enabling groups and councils to achieve key milestones and deliverables with the goal of realizing integrated service delivery
· Improve new clinical population pathways and work to consistently measure and improve existing clinical pathways with a population health approach
· Support clinical change management and communication initiatives to inform OHT stakeholders and the broader community as clinical population pathways are implemented
· Lead and guide evaluation processes, prepare performance reports and other accountabilities required by Ontario Health
· Provide oversight and direction for prudent financial and resource management for the OHT

Skills & Abilities

· Systems thinker with demonstrated ability to lead and manage large, complex projects and/or operations with multiple stakeholders and multiple independent contributing organizations to better integrate care
· Understanding of clinical leadership in health system design, planning and implementation, with specific expertise in multi-sector and inter-sectoral engagement
· Expertise, understanding, and/or passion for a population health approach and population health management
· Balanced understanding of social determinants of health and how to effectively integrate health and social care for optimal care and service delivery
· Demonstrated innovative thinking and ability to handle and navigate clinical and operational ambiguity
· Relentlessly focused on ensuring patient/client and caregiver partners have a significant role in design, planning and decision making
· Knowledge of the Ontario Healthcare landscape, provincial health care structures, processes, funding mechanisms and current priorities is strongly preferred
· Demonstrated proactive problem-solving, change facilitation, and risk management

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in business administration, or healthcare administration. 10+ years’ experience with five (5) years management experience, preferably within the health care sector. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
· Excellent communicator, strategic thinker, and team player with a passion for health system improvement and the ability to influence change
· Formal leadership training, change management and experience in academic detailing or mentoring considered an asset
· Experience applying a health equity lens to projects/initiatives aligned with the quadruple aim (population health, patient experience, per capita cost, provider experience) preferred
· A successful record of accomplishment in change management and conflict resolution
· Demonstrated participatory leadership, mentoring, and motivational skills with ability to guide/coach/influence multiple stakeholders
· Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
· Knowledge and understanding of business practices, budgeting, procurement, human resource management, health and safety best practices and reporting requirements
· Knowledge and understanding of community resources and partnerships, program planning, knowledge mobilization and communication/dissemination techniques
· Superior report writing and presentation skills necessary for communicating complex information to a diverse array of groups
· Proficient computer skills and the ability to work within a computerized environment
· Strong time management, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills
· Ability to exercise a high level of independence, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
· Ability to manage competing demands and meet demanding timelines
