Position Summary

Coordinator, Registration and Data Quality
Reporting to the Manager of Patient Flow, Admitting, Registration, and Bed Control the Coordinator you will play a significant role in supporting staff, processes, and technology to work in harmony ensuring patient safety through optimized data quality. You will ensure staff adherence to complex data collection processes and policies, mitigating patient safety risks that may result from inaccurate data, by investigating and taking corrective action as needed. You will act as an HIM program representative on information system upgrades and new implementations and provide registration processes subject matter expertise for quality improvement projects. You have excellent analytical, team building, organizational and time management skills, and have the ability to deal with competing demands. You are a Systems thinker with the ability to understand complex patient flow systems and develop systems based solutions. You are computer proficient, have superior communication and interpersonal skills, effortlessly connecting with physicians, staff, patients, and families, and display a high degree of professionalism. You will also take on the shared responsibility for ensuring that health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

Maintain Database Integrity and Data Entry, and preparation of reports
Recommend and/or provide education and training as required
Assist/act as subject matter expert coordinating special projects
Liaise with information services and other key stakeholders to provide administrative support for systems within the HIM portfolio (e.g. Cerner, Tele-Tracking )
Work with Manager in collaboration with internal partners for the development of policies and procedures for Patient Registration/Health Information Management
Work with Manager in collaboration with hospital partners and special projects team(s) to develop solutions for data quality issues, process improvement and system compliance
Create and maintain staff scheduling
Perform all other duties as required

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required
Certificate in Medical Office Administration or equivalent Health Care related field required
Health Information Management Diploma preferred
Certification in good standing with the Canadian Health Information Management Association an asset
Minimum 5 years of experience in a complex hospital environment required, HIM preferred
Previous experience in a leadership role e.g., Coordinator role, preferred
Experience in mandatory data submissions (CCO, CIHI, MOHLTC)
Experience managing projects and initiatives aligned with strategic directions
Experience with Green Belt (Lean Process Improvement) an asset
Previous involvement developing, implementing & monitoring a data quality program/QA reports an asset
Experience with hospital information services e.g., Cerner and Tele-tracking systems an asset
