About the Role
The Role of the Digital Specialist/Data Scientist will be to build core discipline and data products/projects. The candidate should have an analytical mindset to build advanced analytics products that would help generate value for LNG Canada. In this role, you will co-create and validate AI, ML and LLM models that automate and/or enhance our prediction and anomaly detection capabilities.
The role, with support of Discipline Engineers and Advanced Analytics Specialist, will drive the detailed data analysis and analytics of the LNG Production Systems to model anomalies and operating scenarios that deviate from desired conditions. The main objective will be to work with teams to produce fit-for-purpose detection and predictive processes that can drive proactive action in the field, in turn avoiding unplanned downtime and undesired operating conditions that may lead to premature failure or degraded performance.
This is a fixed term role with benefits with LNG Canada that will end 31 December 2027.

As a Data Scientist:
Be responsible for leading design, development, verification, and validation of analytics driven solutions and products.Work in a cross functional team and develop analytic models (statistical, AI, physics enriched) for condition-based monitoring, anomaly detection, remaining useful life, materials forecasting etc.Be involved in the whole process of model development. This includes everything from root cause analysis, data collection and feature engineering to training, validating, and implementing machine learning models, computing performance statistics and live model monitoring.Work with stakeholders to identify & explore new avenues in Technology & Production towards predictive and prescriptive analytics.Demonstrate collaborative work style and display team-oriented behavior with a proactive example of communication internally and externally.Experience in data miningStrong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.Azure ML, will be added advantage.Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI)Knowledge of workflow and applications tools (PowerApps, RShiny, Streamlit)Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Your typical week:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Process, Chemical or Rotating); Data Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, Must have related field with 2-3 plus year of analytics development experience.Discipline experience required – Process or Rotating equipment engineering.Knowledge in building AI/ML models across Energy & Reliability solutionsKnowledge in the use of Python/R and/or other analytic software tools or languagesKnowledge in data cleansing, data quality assessment, and feature engineeringKnowledge in statistics and statistical model development.
