The OpportunityReporting to the Manager, Health Information Services and under the supervision of the Health Information Services supervisors, the Admitting Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit. Responsibilities include but are not limited to data entry (in-patient and outpatient registration, admission, discharge, transfer and pre-registrations); required transport functions, in accordance with unit and IWK Health policies; ordering and maintaining supplies; specific auditing functions; Point Pleasant Lodge reservations; arranging for shift coverage.
Casual Relief Opportunities are available in the following areas:
- Admitting and Registration
- Children's Emergency Department Admitting and Registration
- Day Surgery Registration
- Admitting & Registration (Varies based on 24-hour department coverage schedule; includes days, evening, nights and weekends. 7-hour shifts)
- Children's Emergency Department Admitting and Registration (Varies based on 24-hour department coverage schedule; includes days, evening, nights and weekends. 7-hour shifts)
- Day Surgery Registration (Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2.00 PM)
- Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Completion of a recognized office administration program an asset.
- Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
- Emergency experience preferred.
- Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required. Testing may be conducted on short-listed candidates and results will be factored into the candidate’s overall suitability for this position.
- Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Flexibility to work additional shifts preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
- Competency in other languages an asset.
