Job Summary

The Admitting Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit. This includes data entry, transport functions, ordering and maintaining supplies, auditing functions, and arranging for shift coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data entry for in-patient and outpatient registration, admission, discharge, transfer, and pre-registrations
  • Transport functions in accordance with unit and IWK Health policies
  • Ordering and maintaining supplies
  • Specific auditing functions
  • Point Pleasant Lodge reservations
  • Arranging for shift coverage

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Completion of a recognized office administration program an asset
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
  • Emergency experience preferred
  • Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, time management, interpersonal, and communication skills required
  • Flexibility to work additional shifts preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology an asset
  • Competency in other languages an asset
