Join to apply for the Health And Safety Manager role at Armtec Reporting to the National Human Resource and Safety Manager, the Health & Safety (HS) Manager is responsible for promoting a culture of workplace health, safety and wellness. The HS Manager provides day-to-day support, leading the development, implementation and maintenance of safe work practices, HSE policies, and job hazard assessments. This role supports the Quebec and Western Canada regions – occasional travel is required. Key responsibilities Develop, implement and monitor HSE strategies and initiatives that comply with Company HSE programs and regulatory requirements. Champion the proactive reduction of workplace injuries and illnesses by supporting our branches in the development of their safety processes, practices and procedures. Be active on sites as required to provide visibility and direction and participate in HSE activities. Lead any inspections and/or investigations by enforcement agencies (CNESST, WCB) to determine root cause and make recommendations for effective incident reduction strategies. Manage CNESST and WCB claims process, providing guidance on return-to-work programs. Oversee and co-chair Joint Health and Safety Committees. Prepare quality reports and presentations with valid and comprehensive recommendations for health, safety, and environmental controls. Engage with employees to foster a culture of health and safety responsibility through continuous improvement and proactive communication. Implement information and communication flow and data publications to ensure each level of management is properly informed of all activities relative to compliance with company safety policies. Coordinate and participate in monthly health and safety meetings and audits. Support the development, implementation, and review of annual health, safety, and environment practices, processes and information exchange according to all relevant federal and provincial legislation. Administer health, safety, and environmental orientation training and post-training assessment for new hires and contractors. Provide guidance and/or assistance in the coordination of internal and external training programs, delivering and assisting with the delivery of internal HSE learning experiences. Qualifications & Education 7+ years of health, safety, and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment. Post-secondary education (degree, diploma or certificate) in Occupational Health and Safety. Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation. Proficiency in the use of MS Office. In-depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental legal requirements, as well as applicable consensus standards and industry codes of practice. Familiarity with manufacturing operations, processes and applicable HSE hazards and controls. Seeks continuous improvement through a proactive, risk-based approach to safety management and engaging and developing others. Strong leadership skills with a cooperative and helpful attitude towards colleagues. Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal - French and English. A commitment to spend at least 80% of the time in the field, actively engaging and influencing frontline personnel to foster a culture of safety excellence and compliance with HSE standards. The ability to conduct business in an ethical manner and build relationships based on collaboration, honesty and respect. A willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
