Health and Safety Manager
(Bilingual: French & English)
Reporting to the National Human Resource and Safety Manager, the Health & Safety (HS) Manager is responsible for promoting a culture of workplace health, safety and wellness. The HS Manager provides day to day support, leading the development, implementation and maintenance of safe work practices, HSE policies, and job hazard assessments. This role supports the Quebec and Western Canada regions – occasional travel is required.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor HSE strategies and initiatives that comply with Company HSE programs and regulatory requirements.
- Champion the proactive reduction of workplace injuries and illnesses by supporting our branches in the development of their safety processes, practices and procedures.
- Be active on sites as required to provide visibility and direction and participate in HSE activities.
- Leads any inspections and or investigations by enforcement agencies (CNESST, WCB) to determine root cause and make recommendations for effective incident reduction strategies.
- Manages CNESST and WCB claims process, providing guidance on return-to-work programs.
- Oversees and Co-chairs Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Prepares quality reports and presentations with valid and comprehensive recommendations for health, safety, and environmental controls.
- Engage with employees to foster a culture of health and safety responsibility through continuous improvement and proactive communication.
- Implement information and communication flow and data publications to ensure each level of management is properly informed of all activities relative to compliance with company safety policies.
- Coordinates and participates in monthly health and safety meetings and audits.
- Supports the development, implementation, and review of annual health, safety, and environment practices, processes and information exchange according to all relevant federal and provincial legislation.
- Administers health, safety, and environmental orientation training and post-training assessment for new hires and contractors.
- Provide guidance and or assistance in the coordination of internal and external training programs, delivering and assisting with the delivery of internal HSE learning experiences.
Qualifications & Education
- 7+ years of health, safety, and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Post-secondary education (degree, diploma or certificate) in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable legislation.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office.
Abilities & Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental legal requirements, as well as applicable consensus standards and industry codes of practice.
- Familiarity with manufacturing operations, processes and applicable HSE hazards and controls.
- Seeks continuous improvement through a proactive, risk-based approach to safety management and engaging and developing others.
- Strong leadership skills with a cooperative and helpful attitude towards colleagues.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal - French and English.
- A commitment to spend at least 80% of the time in the field, actively engaging and influencing frontline personnel to foster a culture of safety excellence and compliance with HSE standards.
- The ability to conduct business in an ethical manner and build relationships based on collaboration, honesty and respect.
- A willingness to travel up to 25% of the time

Gestionnaire Santé et Sécurité

Sous la responsabilité du directeur national des ressources humaines et de la sécurité, le gestionnaire santé et sécurité (HS) est chargé de promouvoir une culture de santé, de sécurité et de bien-être au travail. Le Gestionnaire HS apporte un soutien quotidien et dirige l'élaboration, la mise en œuvre et le maintien de pratiques de travail sûres, de politiques HSE et d'évaluations des risques professionnels. Ce poste concerne les régions du Québec et de l'Ouest canadien et nécessite des déplacements occasionnels.
Principales responsabilités
- Élaborer, mettre en œuvre et contrôler des stratégies et des initiatives HSE conformes aux programmes HSE de l'entreprise et aux exigences réglementaires.
- Promouvoir la réduction proactive des blessures et des maladies au travail en aidant nos succursales à élaborer leurs processus, pratiques et procédures en matière de sécurité.
- Être présent sur les sites au besoin pour assurer la visibilité et l'orientation et participer aux activités HSE.
- Diriger les inspections et/ou les enquêtes menées par les organismes d'application de la loi (CNESST, WCB) afin de déterminer la cause profonde et de formuler des recommandations pour des stratégies efficaces de réduction des incidents.
- Gérer le processus de réclamation auprès de la CNESST et de la WCB, en fournissant des conseils sur les programmes de retour au travail.
- Superviser et coprésider les comités mixtes de santé et de sécurité.
- Préparer des rapports et des présentations de qualité contenant des recommandations valables et complètes en matière de santé, de sécurité et de contrôle environnemental.
- Collaborer avec les employés afin de favoriser une culture de responsabilité en matière de santé et de sécurité grâce à une amélioration continue et à une communication proactive.
- Mettre en place un flux d'informations et de communication ainsi que la publication de données afin de garantir que chaque niveau de direction soit correctement informé de toutes les activités relatives au respect des politiques de sécurité de l'entreprise.
- Coordonner et participer aux réunions et audits mensuels sur la santé et la sécurité.
- Soutenir l'élaboration, la mise en œuvre et la révision des pratiques, des processus et des échanges d'informations annuels en matière de santé, de sécurité et d'environnement, conformément à toutes les législations fédérales et provinciales applicables.
- Administrer la formation d'orientation en matière de santé, de sécurité et d'environnement ainsi que l'évaluation post-formation pour les nouveaux employés et les sous-traitants.
- Fournir des conseils et/ou une assistance dans la coordination des programmes de formation internes et externes, en dispensant et en aidant à dispenser des expériences d'apprentissage internes en matière de santé, de sécurité et d'environnement.
Qualifications et formation
- 7+ ans d'expérience en matière de santé, de sécurité et d'environnement dans un environnement de fabrication.
- Études postsecondaires (diplôme ou certificat) en santé et sécurité au travail.
- Le titre de professionnel de la sécurité agréé au Canada (CRSP) est préférable.
- Connaissance avérée de la législation applicable.
- Maîtrise de MS Office.
Aptitudes et compétences
- Connaissance approfondie des exigences légales en matière de santé, de sécurité et d'environnement, ainsi que des normes consensuelles applicables et des codes de pratique de l'industrie.
- Connaissance des opérations de fabrication, des processus et des risques et contrôles HSE applicables.
- Recherche l'amélioration continue grâce à une approche proactive et basée sur les risques en matière de gestion de la sécurité, ainsi qu'à l'engagement et au développement des autres.
- Solides compétences en matière de leadership et attitude coopérative et serviable envers les collègues.
- Excellentes compétences en communication et en présentation, tant à l'écrit qu'à l'oral - du francais et de l'anglais
- Engagement à passer au moins 80 % du temps sur le terrain, à impliquer activement et à influencer le personnel de première ligne afin de favoriser une culture d'excellence en matière de sécurité et de conformité aux normes HSE.
- Capacité à mener ses activités de manière éthique et à établir des relations fondées sur la collaboration, l'honnêteté et le respect.
- Disponibilité pour voyager jusqu'à 25 % du temps.
